1. Surprise Me by Sophie Kinsella (The Dial Press, fiction, on sale Feb. 13)

What it’s about: A happily married couple discover that their plan to keep surprising each other — dubbed Project Surprise Me — was perhaps not the greatest idea.

The buzz: Ten of Kinsella’s comic novels have made USA TODAY’s top 20.

2. Wallis in Love by Andrew Morton (Grand Central, non-fiction, on sale Feb. 13)

What it’s about: A biography of Wallis Simpson, the Duchess of Windsor, the infamous American divorceé who prompted England’s King Edward VIII to abdicate for love.

The buzz: Morton, best known for Diana: Her True Story, is also writing a biography of Meghan Markle, Prince Harry’s fianceé (title: Meghan: A Hollywood Princess), that’s due out in April.

3. The Kremlin’s Candidate by Jason Matthews (Scribner, fiction, on sale Feb. 13)

What it’s about: In the third book in the Red Sparrow trilogy featuring Russian double agent Dominika Egorova and her lover, CIA agent Nate Nash, a Russian mole is poised to become the CIA's director.

The buzz: Jennifer Lawrence and Joel Edgerton star in the film adaptation of Red Sparrow, opening March 2.

4. The Kiss: Intimacies From Writers, edited by Brian Turner (Norton, non-fiction and fiction, on sale Feb. 13)

What it’s about: Essays, stories and poems about memorable kisses.

The buzz: Pucker up with this title just in time for Valentine’s Day.

5. Mrs. by Caitlin Macy (Lee Boudreaux Books/Little, Brown, fiction, on sale Feb. 13)

What it’s about: Anxieties among upper-crust mothers at St. Timothy’s school in New York are at the heart of this novel earning comparisons with Big Little Lies.

The buzz: “Entertaining … sharply observed,” says Kirkus Reviews.
